Kering Beauté relaunch Bottega Veneta fragrance line

Kering Beauté, the recently formed beauty division of Kering, is relaunching a line of fragrances for Bottega Veneta under the creative direction of the brand’s designer, Matthieu Blazy.

Bottega Veneta entered the fragrance world in 2011 with several well-received fragrances under license to Coty Inc. Although it has not been announced, we do not expect that those fragrances will be relaunched.

According to reports by WWD, the new fragrance are:

  • Come With Me (Italian bergamot, French orris butter)
  • Acqua Sale (Spanish labdanum, Macedonian juniper oil)
  • Colpo di Sole (French Angelica oil, Moroccan orange blossom absolute)
  • Alchemie, (Brazilian pink pepper, Somalian myrrh notes)
  • Déjà Minuit (geranium from Madagascar, Guatemalan cardamom)

As well as the notes listed above, all of the fragrances reportedly contain a vetiver note

The new collection is expected to launch in Bottega Veneta stores with a more extensive roll-out in mid-2025.

Since the formation of Kering Beauté in 2023, the company have acquired Creed, and brought several of its owned brand licenses in house, including Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga.

Note: An earlier version of this article stated that Kering had brought Boucheron in-house. We’d meant to write Balenciaga. Boucheron is currently licensed to Inter Parfums.

Karine Dubreuil creates new Cologne Twist for Roger & Gallet

Roger & Gallet have called on perfumer Karine Dubreuil to revamp its traditional Eau de Cologne. They say it’s “a stylistic exercise that exalts the fragrance of citrus fruit and unveils the woody notes for a resolutely groundbreaking scent with a definite Twist.”

The fragrance has been created with mainly natural ingredients – Sicilian and Calabrian citrus fruits lead the way – lemon, mandarin and bergamot “reproduces the galvanizing effect that a splash of icy water has in the midst of a heat wave.” This is followed by a surge of aromatic herbs: clary sage, mint, basil and rosemary.

Spices, cardamom and cinnamon, and the lemony notes of elemi “bring an electric appeal to these green notes.” Finally, a sensual blend of white woods gives the fragrance its lingering presence: Tonka bean, cashmere wood, ambroxan and musk intertwine to “add a new, more intense and
deeper boldness to the Eau de Cologne.”

Cologne Twist is available from October. As well as Eau de Cologne, the fragrance is available in a selection of men’s grooming and body products.

Imaginary Authors latest fragrance is Untamable

Imaginary Authors have introduced their newest fragrance, Untamable. As per all of the brands fragrances is was inspired by an imaginary book, by an imaginary author:

“Have you ever had a love so wild that you couldn’t hold on? At its core, Untamable is a love story born in the springs, waterfalls, and Indian Paintbrush covered fields of Texas Hill Country. It’s a classic western told through the lens of the new west, about the kind of love that stays up late after the honky tonk on Saturday night and is still up early for church on Sunday. It’s a story populated by modern day rabble-rousers, bandits, and outlaws—a compassionate waitress, an indigenous rodeo star, a bluegrass playboy, a female long-haul trucker, an up-and-coming rap artist, a queer sheriff, mischievous bachelorettes, and german tourists looking for the “real” America—all of them with one thing in common: they’re each untamable in their own way. When the sun sets on this cautionary tale, it won’t be hard to see yourself in each of them.”

Pin

However, the real inspiration was an April Fools joke that got out of hand.

“On April Fool’s Day we [..] posted a joke fragrance called “Rootin’ Tootin’ Honky Tonka.” Maybe you saw it. The response blew our minds and, surprisingly, many of you begged us to make it real. The following week, Ashod was in Texas for the solar eclipse and thought he’d keep the joke going by posting an image from a Honky Tonk. Again, a bunch of you freaked out. A couple weeks after that, Josh had taken the original idea and reformulated it into something both unrecognizable and immediately familiar”

They continued, ”true to its name, it’s a wild ride. We don’t know of anything like it in the fragrance world. To us, it defies trends and demands attention. If you spray it expecting “a fun cowgirl perfume” or a “smooth cowboy cologne” you are likely going to be disappointed. This thing will buck you off the second you open the gates. But relax into, let the beauty move through you, and we promise the experience will be a powerfully cathartic one.”

Notes for Untamable include Leather Saddle, Tonka Resin, Saguaro Blossom, Texas Yellowstar, Cumin, Tumbleweed, and Paso Fino.

If you buy the fragrance now, you get an art print as an optional FREE add-on with every 50ml purchase.

Tauer’s newest scent is cocoa-based Heraud

Tauer will launch their newest fragrance at Pitti – a fragrance named Heraud, which also heralds the start of a new line of limited perfumes called Elixir by Tauer. The line will be made of scents which may not always be available (or limited) due to the availability of the ingredients used.

Heraud comes from Middle English and French for “a maker of proclamations”. Perfumer and founder, Andy Tauer says that he “chose this name because, to me, Heraud represents a distinguished messenger in a bottle, a bearer of goodness and beauty”

The fragrance is based around a cocoa note, but not any old cocoa note. “After months of searching, I finally found the elusive cocoa absolute extract that would complete my vision. As a perfumer, my quest was to find a cocoa note that was full-bodied, rich, and enduring; a foundational ingredient for the luxurious fragrance I envisioned.”

“When I finally secured the special double-distilled extract, it felt wonderful. This extract, the result of a meticulous process involving primary extraction with a volatile solvent yielding a concrete or resinoid, followed by a second purification step, was exactly what I had been searching for. Extracted from cocoa beans from the Ivory Coast, It offered a pure gourmand dark ness, combining deep, woody warmth with contrasting dry and fruity nuances, and an animalic dry-down note of raw cocoa beans. With this exquisite ingredient in hand, everything else fell into place as if by magic.“

Cocoa is joined by notes of Bourbon bergamot oil, dried dates, white florals, dry timber, cedar wood, Planifolia vanilla, musk and ambergris.

Heraud is available now on the Tauer website. Orders will be shipped on Tuesday when Andy gets back from Pitti. If you are at Pitti, you will have the chance to sample it there.
