Kévin Mathys creates new Electimuss fragrance, Caspian Cherry

Caspian Cherry is the latest scent to join Electimuss’ Explorer Collection. The fragrance is inspired by the Caspian Sea, and the treasures that it brought to the Roman Empire.

“The Caspian Sea brought treasures of all kinds to the Romans through a network of trade routes that extended in reach far beyond their lands and Anatolia. Caspian Cherry is a celebration of the sweet cherries the Romans first encountered in the region surrounding the Caspian Sea. Inspired by these new delicacies and tastes that would delight guests at Roman feasts, Caspian Cherry is a modern reimagining of the honeyed cakes and fruit tarts that Romans enjoyed at their prestigious Bacchanalian parties,“ say the brand.

The perfume was created by Kévin Mathys, who says on the creation of the fragrance, “A gourmand cherry came to my mind, but I wanted it to be dark, ripe, not overly sweet. A bit like those high luxury pastry chef desserts where the sugar is masterfully dosed, carefully counterbalanced with sour and tart ingredients.

I blended black cherry, and amaretto liquor with white and dark chocolate to create a nice bittersweet balance, and some cinnamon and tonka to bring warmth and ease into the rich woody complex accord. This is mysterious and dark, a delicate blend of vetiver, patchouli, and sandal twisted with honey and coconut to give an unexpected edge, a swirl into desire, the signature of this rich and complex cherry.”

Caspian Cherry is available now as 100ml and travel size options.

Margot Robbie in new Chanel No. 5 film “See you at 5”

Chanel have launched their first promotional film for No. 5 since they announced Australian actress, Margot Robbie, as the face of the brand in September.

The new film, which can be seen above, co-stars fellow Aussie, Jacob Elordi (Saltburn, Euphoria), and was directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name, )

Chanel say:

In a blue, vinyl-like sky, the sun hangs at its zenith. The air is warm. It is summer, the most furious of seasons. She is barefoot, languishing in the memory of that alluring and enigmatic man.

A terse message: ‘I will see you at 5 o’clock’. ‘I’ because ‘I want what I want’. She sketches a smile at the thought of this insolent motto she has made her own. Yes, she is powerful. She laughs. She is unique and at times radical, just like her signature perfume, N°5. In her twinkling eye, we see the reflection of the bottle. Yes to 5. Yes to the impatience of love. Yes to the promise of the unknown.

Everything could go wrong. The risk is irresistible!

He rides his motorcycle down the road to Big Sur, California, enchanted by this woman with a radiant smile and magnetic aura.

She hops in her convertible to join him. Her car shines like a rare beetle. She’s wearing a red miniskirt suit and ballet flats: her allure seems effortless. She follows the curves of the road and moves towards him. Her expression is relaxed and confident. Meanwhile, he moves towards her, anxious to win her approval.

They are closing in on each other… they are about to cross paths!

A drone view reveals they just missed each other. Alas, the highly anticipated rendezvous will not take place. A text message exchange reveals that he went to her house unbeknownst to her and vice versa.
She bursts out laughing. She doesn’t really care. She knows that desire is what matters most. The anticipation of pleasure is much more romantic than its enjoyment, except in the case of one timeless gesture: the one between a woman, her skin, and her perfume.

A serene siren in a red swimsuit, she dives into the ocean, into the bottle of N°5.

Is she swimming towards the same man on the motorbike? Maybe. She radiates the sense of triumph that can only come from an accomplished woman. She embraces the present moment and savours her freedom to be herself: fulfilled, independent, serene in her femininity, and free from any need for external validation.

The vision persists: N°5, the embodiment of desire.

Roos & Roos collaborate with world’s oldest jewellery house, Mellerio for Couleur Vendôme

Roos & Roos have created a fragrance for Mellerio, the world’s oldest jewellery house. Founded in 1613, the family owned company is renowned for its high-end craftsmanship, producing bespoke jewellery and luxury items.

The fragrance, Couleur Vendôme, was composed by IFF perfumer, Dominique Ropion who says, “For Couleur Vendôme, I started with Turkish Rose, a molecular distillation LMR with a persistent, plant freshness that’s quite unexpected because it has no beeswax facets. I chose to set it with Orange Blossom, an unusual duo. Although they have molecules in common, they rarely rub shoulders with each other. What guided me? Gathering the vitality of a Mellerio Jewellery piece from which a fantasised Eden emerges. I’d say the wild Rose is the central element, like a monumental stone in a fine jewellery collection. Everything around it, its ambery spicy characters taken on different colours, bright or muted, to colour it, to highlight it in all its splendour”

The scent is housed in the signature Roos & Roos bottle, which has been subtly transformed into a unique object for Maison Mellerio. Retaining the same proportions, a curved rectangle with a radiant cap, this one is in sparkling black and white. The transparent emblematic label purposely reveals a treasure: an archive drawing of the Monterosa Rose. Packaged in its green Mellerio sheath

Couleur Vendôme is available now as 100ml Eau de Parfum. In the UK, the fragrance has just launched at Fortnum & Masons.

Kering Beauté relaunch Bottega Veneta fragrance line

Kering Beauté, the recently formed beauty division of Kering, is relaunching a line of fragrances for Bottega Veneta under the creative direction of the brand’s designer, Matthieu Blazy.

Bottega Veneta entered the fragrance world in 2011 with several well-received fragrances under license to Coty Inc. Although it has not been announced, we do not expect that those fragrances will be relaunched.

According to reports by WWD, the new fragrance are:

  • Come With Me (Italian bergamot, French orris butter)
  • Acqua Sale (Spanish labdanum, Macedonian juniper oil)
  • Colpo di Sole (French Angelica oil, Moroccan orange blossom absolute)
  • Alchemie, (Brazilian pink pepper, Somalian myrrh notes)
  • Déjà Minuit (geranium from Madagascar, Guatemalan cardamom)

As well as the notes listed above, all of the fragrances reportedly contain a vetiver note

The new collection is expected to launch in Bottega Veneta stores with a more extensive roll-out in mid-2025.

Since the formation of Kering Beauté in 2023, the company have acquired Creed, and brought several of its owned brand licenses in house, including Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga.

Note: An earlier version of this article stated that Kering had brought Boucheron in-house. We’d meant to write Balenciaga. Boucheron is currently licensed to Inter Parfums.

Karine Dubreuil creates new Cologne Twist for Roger & Gallet

Roger & Gallet have called on perfumer Karine Dubreuil to revamp its traditional Eau de Cologne. They say it’s “a stylistic exercise that exalts the fragrance of citrus fruit and unveils the woody notes for a resolutely groundbreaking scent with a definite Twist.”

The fragrance has been created with mainly natural ingredients – Sicilian and Calabrian citrus fruits lead the way – lemon, mandarin and bergamot “reproduces the galvanizing effect that a splash of icy water has in the midst of a heat wave.” This is followed by a surge of aromatic herbs: clary sage, mint, basil and rosemary.

Spices, cardamom and cinnamon, and the lemony notes of elemi “bring an electric appeal to these green notes.” Finally, a sensual blend of white woods gives the fragrance its lingering presence: Tonka bean, cashmere wood, ambroxan and musk intertwine to “add a new, more intense and
deeper boldness to the Eau de Cologne.”

Cologne Twist is available from October. As well as Eau de Cologne, the fragrance is available in a selection of men’s grooming and body products.

Imaginary Authors latest fragrance is Untamable

Imaginary Authors have introduced their newest fragrance, Untamable. As per all of the brands fragrances is was inspired by an imaginary book, by an imaginary author:

“Have you ever had a love so wild that you couldn’t hold on? At its core, Untamable is a love story born in the springs, waterfalls, and Indian Paintbrush covered fields of Texas Hill Country. It’s a classic western told through the lens of the new west, about the kind of love that stays up late after the honky tonk on Saturday night and is still up early for church on Sunday. It’s a story populated by modern day rabble-rousers, bandits, and outlaws—a compassionate waitress, an indigenous rodeo star, a bluegrass playboy, a female long-haul trucker, an up-and-coming rap artist, a queer sheriff, mischievous bachelorettes, and german tourists looking for the “real” America—all of them with one thing in common: they’re each untamable in their own way. When the sun sets on this cautionary tale, it won’t be hard to see yourself in each of them.”

Pin

However, the real inspiration was an April Fools joke that got out of hand.

“On April Fool’s Day we [..] posted a joke fragrance called “Rootin’ Tootin’ Honky Tonka.” Maybe you saw it. The response blew our minds and, surprisingly, many of you begged us to make it real. The following week, Ashod was in Texas for the solar eclipse and thought he’d keep the joke going by posting an image from a Honky Tonk. Again, a bunch of you freaked out. A couple weeks after that, Josh had taken the original idea and reformulated it into something both unrecognizable and immediately familiar”

They continued, ”true to its name, it’s a wild ride. We don’t know of anything like it in the fragrance world. To us, it defies trends and demands attention. If you spray it expecting “a fun cowgirl perfume” or a “smooth cowboy cologne” you are likely going to be disappointed. This thing will buck you off the second you open the gates. But relax into, let the beauty move through you, and we promise the experience will be a powerfully cathartic one.”

Notes for Untamable include Leather Saddle, Tonka Resin, Saguaro Blossom, Texas Yellowstar, Cumin, Tumbleweed, and Paso Fino.

If you buy the fragrance now, you get an art print as an optional FREE add-on with every 50ml purchase.

Gabriela Chelariu creates trio of fragrances for British fashion brand, AllSaints

AllSaints have launched three new Eau de Parfums, in partnership with new license holder, Scent Beauty, and dsm-Firmenich perfumer, Gabriela Chelariu.

The unisex fragrances are: Sunset Riot Intense, Shoreditch Leather and Ravaged Rose. The company say that, “the fragrances are a true reflection of the brand, centered around attitude and feelings with collections designed to make people look and feel good and recognizably AllSaints.”

The bottle design for the collection features a hexagon bolt shaped cap that is inspired by the AllSaints industrial fixtures and fittings used in their stores. Adorned with its own ‘leather jacket’ the bottle has an iconic leather sleeve that captures the heritage of the brand. The bottles are made of recyclable glass.

“I was so excited about our 30th year, and I thought it was the perfect time to relaunch fragrance, but I wanted it to tell the story of our brand. I wanted for someone to look at the bottle and know it’s an AllSaints fragrance. So, in using leather as the wrap and using the bolt as the cap. And we wanted it to have all the elements of what an AllSaints product is – once they spray it, it reiterates the edginess, the grittiness, but also the luxury of where our brand has evolved to today.” said Catherine Scorey, COO AllSaints.

Gabriela Chelariu, the perfumer behind these scents, said “For me it is very important when I work on a brand to understand everything about it. The look of the store, the feel of the fabrics, how things are together and what are the details that are making the brand stand out…It was very clear what the goal was. I think that’s the key to developing fragrance, understanding the brand DNA. And in the way that AllSaints has such a signature in terms of fashion-the feeling and the look-it was easy for me to understand.”

Shoreditch Leather – A primal, sensual leather and woody scent

“Inspired by the beauty of an AllSaints leather jacket, this fragrance has a Leather Accord with a gradient effect, moving from light to dark tones. The scent starts with the fresh and spicy scent of Elemi, which has a lemon-pepper aroma. When combined with Saffron, it creates a suede-like texture. The Leather Accord is then blended with a veil of jasmine, and as the fragrance dries, a variety of luxurious woods come together to create a perfect balance of effortless chic and rebellious energy.”

Top notes include Elemi, Fresh Rosewater, and Saffron; a heart of a Leather Accord, Sheer Jasmine, and Sandalwood; with a dry down of Haitian Vetiver, Patchouli Essence, and Warm Amber.

Chelariu said, “I was inspired by the transformative power of putting on a leather jacket and aimed to capture the empowering sensation of leather by blending its edginess with a sense of lightness.”

Ravaged Rose – A vibrant, provocative and floral fruity scent

“The rose is considered the most noble and iconic flower in the world of perfumery. With its various colors, facets, and moods, Gabriela Chelariu aimed to create a rich and full-bodied version of the rose by adding brushstrokes of spice, citrus, amber, and woods. The result is a scent that is both feminine and masculine, with a hint of sexiness and edginess that is truly unforgettable.”

Italian Bergamot, Lemon Sfuma, and Pink Pepper feature in the top, while Rose Damascena Absolute, Ivy Greens, and Waterlily make up the heart, leading to a dry down of Amber Woods, Soft Musks, and Cedar

“I wanted to create a modern rose highlighting the facets that are captivating, while maintaining the incredible beauty and softness of the rose.” Says the perfumer.

Sunset Riot Intense – An addictive, explosive and amber floral scent

“This intense elixir is a new version of the well-loved Sunset Riot. It takes all the addictive and qualitative elements from the original and amplifies them even more. Explosive Pink Pepper creates a tingling sensation, followed by sensual Orange Flower and Night Blooming Jasmine. The blend is grounded with Cedarwood, seductive Amber, and textured Musks to create an utterly intoxicating fragrance.”

Gabriela Chelariu says, “Drawing inspiration from AllSaints signature play on contrasting textures, I wanted to recreate the spirit by combining vertical woods surrounded by solar floral notes and airy warmth.”

A head of Mandarin Leaves, Pink Pepper, and Wild Freesia; a heart of Orange Flower, Night Blooming Jasmine, and Woodland Moss; and a base of Cedarwood, Cetalox Amber, and Sueded Musks.

Scent Beauty is the new license holder for AllSaints fragrances, previously the license was held by Revlon.

AllSaints Sunset Riot Intense, Shoreditch Leather and Ravaged Rose will be available for £69 / 100€ / $110 (100ml) and £40 / 62€ / $65 (30ml) from September in all AllSaints stores, AllSaints website and October in Boots, The Fragrance Shop, Nordstrom and various other global e-retailers

Tauer’s newest scent is cocoa-based Heraud

Tauer will launch their newest fragrance at Pitti – a fragrance named Heraud, which also heralds the start of a new line of limited perfumes called Elixir by Tauer. The line will be made of scents which may not always be available (or limited) due to the availability of the ingredients used.

Heraud comes from Middle English and French for “a maker of proclamations”. Perfumer and founder, Andy Tauer says that he “chose this name because, to me, Heraud represents a distinguished messenger in a bottle, a bearer of goodness and beauty”

The fragrance is based around a cocoa note, but not any old cocoa note. “After months of searching, I finally found the elusive cocoa absolute extract that would complete my vision. As a perfumer, my quest was to find a cocoa note that was full-bodied, rich, and enduring; a foundational ingredient for the luxurious fragrance I envisioned.”

“When I finally secured the special double-distilled extract, it felt wonderful. This extract, the result of a meticulous process involving primary extraction with a volatile solvent yielding a concrete or resinoid, followed by a second purification step, was exactly what I had been searching for. Extracted from cocoa beans from the Ivory Coast, It offered a pure gourmand dark ness, combining deep, woody warmth with contrasting dry and fruity nuances, and an animalic dry-down note of raw cocoa beans. With this exquisite ingredient in hand, everything else fell into place as if by magic.“

Cocoa is joined by notes of Bourbon bergamot oil, dried dates, white florals, dry timber, cedar wood, Planifolia vanilla, musk and ambergris.

Heraud is available now on the Tauer website. Orders will be shipped on Tuesday when Andy gets back from Pitti. If you are at Pitti, you will have the chance to sample it there.
