Perfume trade fair Pitti Fragranze starts today

Celebrating its 22nd year is Pitti Fraganze, the Florence-based niche fragrance fair. Approximately 180 brands are exhibiting at the show, including upcoming and established perfume houses.

The theme of this years event, inspiring the new Fragranze campaign and event installation, is “The Sound of Fragrance”, dedicated to the close connection between the world of perfumes and music. The theme will also be featured in a special immersive installation

Although Basenotes will not be attending this year (sadly), we will do our best to report news from the show as we get it.

Chanel announce Margot Robbie as new face for Chanel No. 5

Chanel have announced that Margot Robbie will be the face of the new advertising campaign for their classic N°5 perfume.

Robbie is an actress and producer who has risen to international fame with her performances in both blockbuster films and critically acclaimed projects. Born in Dalby, Queensland, Robbie got her start in the entertainment industry on the popular Australian soap opera Neighbours, where she portrayed the character Donna Freedman from 2008 to 2011.

Her breakout role in Hollywood came in 2013 with The Wolf of Wall Street, and she has since become known for standout performances in films such as I, Tonya, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Barbie.

Robbie, who has been a Chanel ambassador since March 2018, says “I think CHANEL N°5 is one of the most iconic fragrance in the world. It’s incredible to be a part of it. There’s an incredible lineage of impressive women who’ve been associated with the fragrance over the years. I am very honoured to be joining that long list of incredible talents.”

The new N°5 campaign featuring Margot Robbie will be unveiled in October 2024.

Calice Becker creates Almond Suede for Arquiste

Arquiste have launch their latest fragrance, a gourmand eau de parfum named Almond Suede.

They describe the fragrance as “An addictive and sophisticated gourmand balancing almond marzipan and suede leather inspired by Medieval Andalusia, the city of Córdoba and almond sweets. A must try for gourmand lovers.”

Almond Suede was created for Arquiste by perfumer, Calice Becker, and includes notes of Pink peppercorn, Italian bergamot oil, Honeycomb absolute, Bitter almond oil, Cistus concrete from Spain, North African neroli oil, Saffron accord, Orange flower accord, Candied sugar, Vanilla absolute, Pine tar from France, and a Suede accord.

Tumi add four feminine fragrances to line-up

Travel and lifestyle brand Tumi have introduced its first women’s fragrances, expanding on its previous men’s fragrance collection.

The new collection, “Tumi Experience Collector”, consists of four scents inspired by four locations around the world.

“We are thrilled to unveil our very first TUMI women’s fragrance collection, marking an exciting milestone in our journey.” said Victor Sanz, Tumi’s Creative Director. “This launch represents our continued commitment in our ever expanding world of lifestyle, offering our customers a new way to immerse themselves into the essence of Tumi.”

Each Extrait de Parfum 100ml bottle retails for $135 USD. The fragrance collection is available now at TUMI.com, TUMI stores in the U.S., Nordstrom, and other select retailers. Later this year, the collection will be available in select TUMI stores worldwide.
