Roger & Gallet have called on perfumer Karine Dubreuil to revamp its traditional Eau de Cologne. They say it’s “a stylistic exercise that exalts the fragrance of citrus fruit and unveils the woody notes for a resolutely groundbreaking scent with a definite Twist.”
The fragrance has been created with mainly natural ingredients – Sicilian and Calabrian citrus fruits lead the way – lemon, mandarin and bergamot “reproduces the galvanizing effect that a splash of icy water has in the midst of a heat wave.” This is followed by a surge of aromatic herbs: clary sage, mint, basil and rosemary.
Spices, cardamom and cinnamon, and the lemony notes of elemi “bring an electric appeal to these green notes.” Finally, a sensual blend of white woods gives the fragrance its lingering presence: Tonka bean, cashmere wood, ambroxan and musk intertwine to “add a new, more intense and
deeper boldness to the Eau de Cologne.”
Cologne Twist is available from October. As well as Eau de Cologne, the fragrance is available in a selection of men’s grooming and body products.
