Tauer will launch their newest fragrance at Pitti – a fragrance named Heraud, which also heralds the start of a new line of limited perfumes called Elixir by Tauer. The line will be made of scents which may not always be available (or limited) due to the availability of the ingredients used.

Heraud comes from Middle English and French for “a maker of proclamations”. Perfumer and founder, Andy Tauer says that he “chose this name because, to me, Heraud represents a distinguished messenger in a bottle, a bearer of goodness and beauty”

The fragrance is based around a cocoa note, but not any old cocoa note. “After months of searching, I finally found the elusive cocoa absolute extract that would complete my vision. As a perfumer, my quest was to find a cocoa note that was full-bodied, rich, and enduring; a foundational ingredient for the luxurious fragrance I envisioned.”

“When I finally secured the special double-distilled extract, it felt wonderful. This extract, the result of a meticulous process involving primary extraction with a volatile solvent yielding a concrete or resinoid, followed by a second purification step, was exactly what I had been searching for. Extracted from cocoa beans from the Ivory Coast, It offered a pure gourmand dark ness, combining deep, woody warmth with contrasting dry and fruity nuances, and an animalic dry-down note of raw cocoa beans. With this exquisite ingredient in hand, everything else fell into place as if by magic.“

Cocoa is joined by notes of Bourbon bergamot oil, dried dates, white florals, dry timber, cedar wood, Planifolia vanilla, musk and ambergris.

Heraud is available now on the Tauer website. Orders will be shipped on Tuesday when Andy gets back from Pitti. If you are at Pitti, you will have the chance to sample it there.
